Are you going back to big R?

all4one@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.zip•41% of companies worldwide plan to reduce workforces by 2030 due to AIEnglish3·7 months agoI only read the article not the full report but without a lot of context this always sounds like a silly stat. Why wouldn’t you reduce your costs if there was a “free” similar replacement? The two problems are that this is based on a future state that we haven’t seen yet. And there’s no proof in how similar AI will be to a similar job role.
I don’t know why I thought batteries must have been prohibitively expensive growing up, but that’s one thing I’ve always kept on hand and my kids would never know.

all4one@lemmy.zipto Android@lemdro.id•End of an era: Nova Launcher's parent company lays off practically everyoneEnglish16·1 year agoI’m still looking for a launcher similar to nova. The two big things I want are the swipe action on homescreen icons. For example I set the swipe up on my phone app to directly call someone. And I have the swipe up on other apps open a separate app instead. Other thing is being able to create folders of apps in the app drawer.

You don’t have to be the best person, just among the best.
all4one@lemmy.zipto News@lemmy.world•IRS plans to make its free tax filing program permanentEnglish41·1 year agoThat was my issue too. I think it was something with retirement like it didn’t support either 401k or IRA contributions.
I jumped back to freetaxusa since I’ve been using them for years.
What are all the bananas comments about? I’ve seen it a few times now.
“The Guide says there is an art to flying”, said Ford, "or rather a knack. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.
I’ve only ever seen that clip with the Harlem shake song. Never knew it was its own thing.
It seems to me like “maybe”, pretty much always means no.

all4one@lemmy.zipto Android@lemmy.world•PSA: Nova Launcher is owned by an analytics companyEnglish1·1 year agoThanks I’ll have to check it again. I guess I either missed it or it wasn’t implemented when I originally looked.
all4one@lemmy.zipto Android@lemmy.world•PSA: Nova Launcher is owned by an analytics companyEnglish131·1 year agoI’ve been looking since this was first announced forever ago but can’t find a comparable alternative. My two main requirements are being able to create folders for apps in the app drawer and being able to assign “swiping up” on my home screen icon for the to open hidden apps or actions. I would love if anyone had a suggestion that included those two features.
