In a weekend Truth Social blitz, the former president threatened to violate his gag order in the upcoming hush money trial
Donald Trump said Saturday he is willing to go to jail, but not for the crimes he’s accused of committing.
The presumptive GOP candidate said he wanted to violate the expanded gag order against him in his upcoming hush money trial. In fact, he would be willing to make himself a martyr and serve jail time if the judge found him guilty of violating the order.
In a three-part post on his tanking social media company, Truth Social, Trump lashed out at the New York judge who granted the gag order, Juan Merchan, whom Trump has repeatedly targeted in his posts along with Merchan’s daughter for being biased against him.
“IF this Partisan Hack wants to put me in the ‘clink’ for speaking the open and obvious TRUTH, I will gladly become a Modern Day Nelson Mandela – It will be my GREAT HONOR,” Trump wrote.
Just remember that Trump never once spoke out in favor of the real Nelson Mandela when Mandela was alive.
He did continue to say the ‘Central Park 5’ were guilty long after they were exonerated, so it isn’t like he didn’t have opinions about wrongly incarcerated black people. He just had horrible ones.
Yeah, it’s almost impossible to keep all of Donnie’s horrible actions straight.
Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years. Sounds great!

He’ll go to prison and approximately half the population will think he died there and half will think he got out?
Like, with Mandela he got out, but people thought he died. So with trump he’ll die in prison, but his followers will remember him getting out and they’ll do that JFK thing every year where they convince themselves he’ll reveal himself?

We need to let them continue to think that he’s alive and going to make his comeback. It’ll keep them complacent and waiting instead of going all terrorist extremist.

How is not already just a crime to harass anyone in the court/courtroom or their families?
Saying mean things about people on social media typically isn’t a crime (unless it’s libel).
But, Trump is a cult leader, so this situation is different since his saying mean things can put those people in imminent danger. This is actually one of the only times the government is allowed to infringe on free speech.
I mean specifically saying mean things and posting info about the family of a court with whom you have an active hearing should be.
The problem with adding exceptions like that to free speech is that it’s easy to abuse it. Trump is already an exception, so there’s really no need to widen it more.
Plus, it’s not like it being explicitly illegal would make any difference here. Trump can basically commit any crime he wants with impunity. Doxing a judge is like a speeding ticket to him.

Trump thinks he is Paul Atreides making a play for the throne. He is twisting into religious fervor on purpose because he knows that once people fall into the hands of a hero they are a half step away from being radicalized into extremists. That’s what is happening now. He wants the Christian nationalists to explode with violence. He wants them to install him as their emperor. He wants the Jihad that will kill anyone who thinks he is not the savior. And if we keep marching on this path that possibility grows larger.
Just keep pounding his pocketbook. He’ll gladly be a martyr, but he sure as fuck doesn’t want to be broke.
He probably also thinks they won’t be able to because “He is a former president, they won’t have any place to put him.” Just put him in solitary for while.

Merchan granted an expanded gag order this week after Trump had made repeated threats against him and his daughter, posting both her name and photos despite her not being involved in the case.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg requested the initial order to protect jurors, witnesses, and investigators from Trump’s wrath, which can be met with violent threats by his supporters.
During his rant about Merchan on Saturday, Trump also attempted to re-litigate the defamation case filed against him by writer E. Jean Carroll — which resulted in an $83 million verdict against him.
“How many Corrupt, Biased, Crooked Joe Biden-‘Protection Agency’ New York Judges do I have to endure before somebody steps in?” Trump wrote.
