    TL;DW: meta finds young girls who delete their selfies and sells them to advertisers for cosmetics.

    Back in the day, software not only functioned without the internet, it “wanted to help”. Clippy, who was universally hated, at least didn’t sell you out to advertisers. Didn’t sell your data. Didn’t demand access to all your private data. Didn’t train on your work to eventually replace you. Just wanted to help.

    I mean, if you weren’t there you maybe can’t even imagine it.

      Clippy was useless and a little annoying but he wasn’t evil like 99% of technology nowadays.

        But its persistence is a characteristic of today: Installed and enabled by default, providing little to no value while insisting to be used until you removed or disabled it.

        Sure it didn’t scape your data and sell it but if they had the ability to, I guarantee they would have.
