Unsurprising to me this is happening in schools, they’ve got to be ready for the low wage retail jobs many will have after graduation. A lot of places have been upgrading their phones to Zoom-enabled devices, which have the ability to record and summarize all employee conversations held near them for management or HR. I’ve worked in a couple places recently where it got rolled out and there were hints they were using it that way.
Anyone willing to call me paranoid, or supportive of the idea this tech is used this way or will be, please respond, retail isn’t really full of many tech savvy people and I’m curious if I’m imagining the capability/use of this, or if others have had similar experiences.
I tried to imagine loving someone enough to forgive this and failed.
When Twitter went downhill, we got bluesky and mastodon. Bluesky works as a decent Twitter replacement and Mastodon is smaller and more fediverse-focused. Lemmy and Piefed are alternatives to Reddit but I wouldnt really say that Lemmy fully replaces Reddits functionality in terms of niche subs. That’s why I’ve always been in favor of explosive growth here with each Reddit exodus, to have a forum within an order of magnitude or two of the size of Reddit to properly become a replacement.
This would be a flyby, rather than orbiting, as that would take a lot more propellant. I’d assume they might use gravitational assist from Jupiter, but a more or less direct shot might be planned, not sure. 3I Atlas would be closest to Jupiter in early September, yes, coincidentally the same time Juno was expected to be deorbited. As far as achieving the velocity needed, there are some calculations yet to be done but apparently there could be enough propellant onboard to do it.
I heard about the intercept idea through The Angry Astronaut’s youtube but there was a Congresswoman and some professors pushing it too.
(Angry Astronaut’s recent video about an intercept mission) https://youtu.be/B6O7nuJcmpY
Somewhat related, would be nice if they’d order Juno to be rerouted to check out interstellar comet 3I-Atlas, has to be done before the end of the month. Juno is slated to be deorbited into Jupiter in September so has no actual science left to do but probably enough fuel remaining for the rendesvous.
To address the passage you mentioned, its Mark 14:64 that mentions blasphemy and that could be (I’ve heard it explained this way) from Jesus’ appropriation of earlier Greek Bacchus/Aphrodite cult practices, with Jesus specifically taking over the role played by Aphrodite.
Mark 14:48 has Jesus asking the soldiers why they’re attacking him with heavy weaponry as if he were a lēstēs, or human trafficker, the same word is used by Julius Caesar to describe the people who captured and ransomed him, so the general translation of lēstēs as robber or brigand is insufficient, they are human traffickers, often the pederastic type. Caesar also started the tradition of crucifying this particular type of criminal.
Unsarcastically, more and more scholars are recognizing that in the Greek original texts of the New Testament, the apostles seem to range in age from newly pubescent (John) up to maybe 18-19 in the case of Peter. To say nothing of the naked child Jesus was caught with in the garden of Gethsemane (Mark 14:51-52) - the whole reason they crucified him under laws reserved for child traffickers.
Important to remember that Jesus spoke Greek and lived in the context of Greco-Roman culture, with the widespread prevalence of pederasty, eunuchs, drug use etc. that came with it.
I think I remember hearing about tariffs in 3rd or 4th grade history and civics, like when they were talking about the causes of secession from Great Britain. This was in the 80s.
If this happens they should check ID at church too seeing as how children are much more likely to be abused or groomed by someone there.
Is it unsafe to eat ozone, perhaps? Like if you had something really porous like a cake in there and all the air spaces became ozone, that couldn’t be safe to eat.
This is like that doctor telling John Green “sneezing isn’t normal. I never sneeze.” Snoring is normal and probably good for you. When most people are dreaming deeply, they snore. It’s just how we’re built.
Get the cheapest vodka and a spray bottle, works great on all upholstery smells
Whatever it takes to get guys to wash their hands I guess
The comment got deleted between when I read it and upvoted it but now I’m curious if any modern cars, maybe in other countries besides the US have ashtrays included standard? They were saying they’d seen an Audi model that had one as late as 2017? Which might be true, I don’t get in Audis often but they always have a lot of doohickeys
slaps car this baby can hold so many candy wrappers!
My friend must make them less sweet than is standard, it’s kind of syrupy but not too bad, maybe a little citrussy and of course that herbal bitterness. I might be an outlier though I’ve been known to sip straight Mallort.
Would be nice to have two agreed upon, separate ways of referring to the ethnicity and the religion. I’d hate if my ethnicity was tied to a religion personally, like I was obliged to practice a faith because of my ancient ancestors or something. Having only terms that refer to both at once makes it too easy to say criticism of Judaic theology is tantamount to racism.
When I first read it I thought it was 35k a year til I realized that was the signing bonus
