This book is so informative. I got his other cookbook, The Wok, and now sing the praises of that versatile cookery ever chance I get.

Chill! This is a common problem that must people have.

Mm-mm, if I had your giant feet
Out there on the beach
Could have outrun those birds

Drewmeister@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Any people here orphaned with living parents? what did your life turn out like? What were some of the stuggles, or some of the positives?15·14 days agoI was kicked out at 17. I was homeless for a short while, and spent some further time couch-surfing and then in what we essentially a halfway home. My 20s were rough, barely scraping by financially. But you can survive a lot in your 20s, and I’m glad I made it through.
I’m now 38, and it’s difficult to condense the journey I’ve had into a few paragraphs. I got married this year. We own a house in a beautiful, tree-filled neighborhood. I’m a software development team lead despite no degree or formal training.
My life wouldn’t be the same without the kindness of friends and strangers, second chances, and a sense of fierce and defiant optimism.

For the other one, it’s whichever starts yodeling if I splash water into the air. I’ve never heard another creature make the noises he does
Drewmeister@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Does trump know he cheats at golf?81·15 days agoI read an article years ago where the author played golf with him. The cheating was blatant and obvious, but not malicious. Cheating was a given. Trump expected everyone to cheat, and to not do so was foolish. Anyone who didn’t cheat was a chump.
So I’ve been thinking about this, and I haven’t done any research yet, but I wonder what email service exists that both respects privacy and also still will definitely be around for the long run
While yes, Happy Tree Friends is probably not for kids despite how it might look
That thing is from 1.5 hyperbolae, right? And also, is this in further reference to something?

Drewmeister@lemmy.worldto Programmer Humor@programming.dev•When you're working on a file that was last updated six years ago13·1 month agoI’ve written semi-personal tools that other team members sometimes use that will break in 2100. The comments note this and really hope they aren’t still using these by then
I had some high school friends in the early 00s who spoke to each other entirely in references. They quoted movies, their jokes came from stand-up specials, etc. They cracked each other up, and most other people just let them do their thing. They weren’t “cringe” or unpopular, but there was a certain amount of humoring them.
A friend of mine ended up marrying one at 18 and then divorcing eventually. I spoke to her recently, and she said he’s basically still a teenager. Maybe that’s unrelated?
If it’s fun to pretend, then I’m fine pretending.
My favorite helicopter fact is that helico means “spiral” like helix, and pter means “winged” like pterodactyl.

I really liked the first game, but haven’t set up my base stations since moving. I’ve still got the OG Vive, and I’m kinda waiting to see whatever Valve’s got up their sleeve next instead of putting together my old system.
Unfortunately, the VR space is so slow that I don’t think it’ll be hard to catch up on the masterpieces even if I wait.
