  • Thanks for the interesting video, and good food for thought!

I find it interesting that he identifies eroticism as something sacred, then fails to identify the concept of transgressing against taboo, which I think many people find to heighten eroticism, also as sacred. It seems to me like a failure to separate fantasy from reality.

When you roleplay a scenario with someone, it is acting, which itself is an artistic expression and something creative.

Now don’t get me wrong, a lot of mainstream porn is formulaic and boring because they all flirt with breaking the same standard taboos in the same formulaic ways, but I don’t think there’s anything morally wrong with it conceptually.

The problems occur when people are unable to distinguish that those acts should only be done with prior discussion and consent. Mainstream Christians really need to learn some lessons from kink communities.

  • Just getting around to trying it now. Will update with further info.

    Very first impressions:

    Yep, its sexo pokemon snap! If you’re into furry or pokephilia, and enjoy photography, this’ll probably be a fun time. It seems like it is more anthro focused though, not that I’d be a good judge of any of this or anything. >_>;

Right off the bat, the walking animation is very janky, but otherwise it seems surprisingly polished. The tutorial is a bit info dumpy, but it’s not that overwhelming.

    Just starting actual gameplay now.

Edit 1: Managed to soft lock myself on the very first quest. Got stuck in a tent flap. Lol. Fixed with a reload.

Edit 2: Now I can’t find this expedition log for the 2nd part of the first quest. This does not bode well. I swear I should work in QA, as I can’t find anyone who’s had this problem.

I’m giving up for tonight. It kinda feels like nobody play tested this.

  • Sure, I could try! It’s still a bit confusing since it was mostly just entertainment for me until very recently.

It’s a combination tbh. Obviously a lot of it is acting, and you never know exactly how genuine your oshi really really is, but their personality, tastes, and sense of humour all shine through. It’d be generally pretty tough for it to be a complete facade and for them to still seem genuine.

Then again, you never know. I’ve heard there were some VTs who did a complete 180 in personality, for example. I think it’d be hard to not notice some signs, but strong feelings can severely cloud judgement, so who knows.

The character’s design and mannerisms are also pretty important, though. I think a lot of the time the VTs will want to play a character that’s kinda an idealised version of themselves. If they see themselves as cute or cool or sexy, they’ll play up those attributes.

As for knowing stuff about them, I think it also varies from VT to VT. Some are more willing to share aspects of their personal life than others. The one I fell for is quite open about her life, but I’m someone who highly values honesty and integrity, so I guess that tracks.

So I think to answer your question, personally for me it’s 70/30 them vs their character, but that’s my supposition. I imagine for others, it could vary quite a bit too.

  • Weirdly. I caught feels for a vtuber recently (completely unexpectedly) and now feel suddenly motivated to improve my life. It also feels like I got hit by truck with emotions that have been nonfunctional for several years.

Parasocial relationships are tough, as they can never be fully reciprocated, and dealing with that feels like it’s going to be a bit stressful. That’s also precisely why I’d avoided them and thought myself immune, but apparently not. Lol
