I think they’re fine but kind of unnecessary unless you’re boxing a bunch of stuff. If you’re moving or do online sales on e-bay or whatever it might be worth picking up a quality one but otherwise just buy a roll of packing tape.

Some things have definitely changed: Renewables are now cheaper than fossil fuels, there are multiple countries that have achieved extended periods of being completely fueled by renewables, and the impacts are climate change are being felt more keenly by everyone.

We still face a very strong possibility of an incredibly bleak future, but even now it is not assured and many things have changed in the last decade (for better and worse).

There are plenty of superpowers that have killed/guarantee/have an extremely high likelihood of causing the death of their wielders. Spawn, for example, dies from using his power. Baily Hoskins and Gentle both have powers that will kill them.

Additionally, one could live with lavapoop powers by surviving off an IV or getting a specialized ostomy. Death isn’t assured, just highly likely.

In fact, there are plenty of established super powers that would make death highly likely, like inability to feel pain or super speed.

In short, I disagree with your opinion here.

If the cable is damaged, yes, there is a risk to your phone, your home, and you: It could catch on fire.

If it’s just slow charging and everything is intact, no that’s actually better for your phone’s battery longevity.

Best: Godmode.

Worst: Your body processes food into lava. You uncontrollably shit lava, but the superpower does not include lava resistance.
