  • I’m unfamiliar with Australia and NZ, but fully agree that historically Canada has engaged in a massive genocide. But in the context of the thread about American interment camps I think it’s a bit disingenuous. While far from perfect, Canada has done a lot in the truth and reconciliation department.

    Most of the mistreatment these days stems from resource development projects infringing on unceded territories.

    I live in an indigenous community, and have lived in many others throughout my life. I have noticed a massive improvement in my elder millennial life.

    While I think some systemic racism still exists towards indigenous folks, I can’t think of anywhere I’ve been with more racial awareness. I certainly noticed much more racist behavior while traveling in Europe recently.
