Yep, been driving it for like 2 years on my study laptops. Only ever ran into a single issue that made the laptop unusable which was Tailscale DNS conflicting with the system’s DNS (been a while so don’t remember the exact details).
If you don’t need the latest stuff, aren’t doing anything needing the latest drivers and don’t really mess around with the shipped packages, it’s excellent for just working and being reliable.
Don’t knock it 'til you try it!
sudo apt install * -y
This is a blatant advertisement. Account is 2 days old with very minimal activity, and the linked URL is on my uBlock blocklist. Fuck off with this Reddit shit, you’re not welcome on Lemmy.
Edit: I’d suggest users not reply here, this bot just DM’d me trying to convince me to give it a go.
I mean, they absolutely could and it would be absolutely trivial to compare a database of crime rates to your departure location. The question should really be “Are they checking if I’m in a shady neighborhood?”
I’m gonna go against the grain and say no, I don’t name my cars other than what they are - my “Subaru” and my “Mazda”. If I got another car from the same manufacturer, then I’d switch it to the model like my " Forester" and my “323”
However, I do have a friend whose family has a designated learner car that they call “Socks” simply because the number plate ends in SOX
I’ve been on Linux for going on 10 years, went through just about all the major and moderate distros out there and the past two years I’ve just been using mint on my study laptops (in particular LMDE for stability) and it’s completely fine for me.
I’m still a little rocked by my fellow AuDHD friend that I yap too much (exactly like this meme - my yap is the stuff outside of the story) and that’s why she stopped calling with me.
I became a lot more conscious of when I start to yap and started trying to get things back on track but it’s been an uphill battle.
Then like 6 months later she clarified she pretty much doesn’t call with anyone else anymore and not just me, but in person she’s totally cool with me yapping…
Like woman, yes I have started improving myself in that aspect but ouch
While that’s respectable, just link the original meme in the post body - if I want to see a meme on my phone, I want the whole meme and nothing but the meme.
MSFM 2000 was the one (and only one) that I’ve played, and unfortunately no, it just pauses the game right on impact.
Never thought I’d see the day that Australian English sticks closer to proper English than British English
I skimmed through Lunduke’s video (tried to find an article from him) but it doesn’t seem he gave any source and I only remain skeptical of him for discussions on Lemmy about him usually being unfavorable, so I did some quick searching to try and confirm his claims.
I did find Jeremy Bicha is a registered offender. I couldn’t source the claim of thousands before 18 or defacing a wiki, but also didn’t anything to the contrary.
I suppose my opinion just from all this is that I probably wouldn’t think it wise to have him even attending that event given (I presume) it’s open to the public, and I’d like to know how long ago he was defacing wiki’s and if he’s had a clean track record [for contributions] since his conviction before I’d have an opinion on whether he should even be maintaining Debian or other open source projects, and what risk there would be should he try to sneak spyware into a package.
Just coming back from a trip and adding to this, I wish Organic Maps / CoMaps had a function to automatically add rest stops and fuel stops.
For example, for a 7 hour road trip it would prompt:
120 minutes
20 minutes
150km
500km
Obviously I’ve just been pulling into service stations and rest stops on my own accord, but I like having small goals and not having the navigation lose it’s shit at me because I decided to pull into a small town halfway through. Would just make planning a day of driving much easier.
I think I’ll be popping this onto my wishlist. I’ve been slowly trying to 100% complete V-Rally 2 for the PS1, as the game is a childhood classic of mine that I never completed and I’ve been enjoying it (when the physics don’t bug out that is…)
You mean they’re more expensive in the US/CA?
You’re right that they tend to work out at AUD150, although obviously area factors into it a lot (an AUD150 hotel in bush Queensland will get you two beds, an ensuite, laundry and aircon. AUD150 in a capital city will have you in someone’s basement with questionable hygiene). Forget any hotel at major tourist attractions at that price.
I probably should have clarified that the 14m number was the estimated number of Californian residents that have Android phones as per the article, but my comment was moreso me overanalysing a joke.
Even if it were split evenly across the estimated 14m residents, it only comes to a grand total of $22.47
I’d definitely say the cameras on the Pixel 4a looked unique for their time, but the rest of the phone was very same-same otherwise. I did like the corner cut out for the front camera though.
My current phone (Pixel 7a) has the camera visor, but even then the whole thing is very same-same again.
I have a soft spot for the iPhone 4/4s as I saved two 4s devices from ewaste a couple years ago through work and I personally think it was peak iPhone. The thick premium sandwich of glass with aluminum frame, the weight and heft, it felt stocky and sturdy, it was one handed, the back glass was easily replaceable.
The rest of my phones in history weren’t remarkable for their looks though in my opinion. So my answer is the iPhone 4s
I learned about them two weeks before they lost support, wanted one really bad and I’m glad I had only just bought a phone already (Pixel 7a) otherwise I would have bought it only to then look up the update cycle and see it was about to be discontinued.
That being said, reviewers noted at the time that the multitasking on Android was a bit clunky, which may have been an opening for a custom ROM to come in and improve this.
Another random chiming in, been a Linux user for 10 years, and a couple years ago, I gave Fedora a good go for a month and couldn’t get it either.
I’m sure if I committed more time to it I would have understood it, but I needed a working computer and not one I was fighting with half the time, so I cut it there.
