In my tech utopia there wouldn’t be Orwellian surveillance to begin with. Anyone entering with those type of devices would find it not working.

Even in a tech utopia something like this existing would make it not a utopia to me, since I don’t see a similarity between regular voluntary posted texts and social media submissions and a persistent recording device.
Like the social situation automatically means people who come in contact with them are being recorded against their will. When it comes to IMs in your example people can choose to participate or not, but this tech is not the case.
Unless there is some Black Mirror type built in privacy block of people showing up as glitched out avatars if they haven’t opted in.
I don’t want to to be a part of people’s recording in real life encounters against my consent. That black mirror episode of everything you see being recorded was a nightmare.
People on Lemmy might be more likely to be trying to do things like de-google in general, or try to cutdown on account based usage for big corporations.

We would have had story DLC like Ballad of Gay Tony and the Lost and the Damned GTA IV got as well as Undead Nightmare for Red Dead Redemption.
GTA online is the worst thing to happen to the series, since it killed off story DLCs. Which were a fantastic way to get new story based content for their games between the years long wait between sequels. Damn those gamers and their obsession with buying microtransactions.

Solves the issue of people who never signed up to the social media site having strangers uploading personal photos, videos, names, and stories to a profile page they never consented to. Which is reminiscent of doxing in its current state.
So meowmeowbeans certification among consenting members would be the better route to go and socially making those not in meowmeowbeans outcasts. At least there is choice now for people to not be part of the community driven database of people.

How is an even more niche process that involves having to go to an exchange to buy crypto then safe guard it and it being a taxable event when buying goods with it in some countries a solution?
People are wanting a mainstream alternative that the companies that they buy from use, and if the companies don’t care to use it then it doesn’t matter for the average person.
Even people actually into crypto are less interested in spending it because it exposes their balance if they aren’t using coin mixers or monero which can make them a target. Not to mention most just see it as stock they hope goes to the moon as opposed to going through the cumbersome process of buying for the purpose of spending it like a depreciating asset.
Yeah like improved cpu, GPU, and screen is expected so not even noteworthy. But everything else has felt like a regression in features.
Had a listen and yeah it is so good. The first Mass Effect really nailed the old scifi vibe. Later OST was good too yet drifted towards more sounding more like Hollywood soundtracks.
