  • The problem with his argument, just to play devils advocate for what the right wing would say, is that local law enforcement has a responsibility to assist federal law enforcement to enforce federal laws even if they do not exist at the state level. The Supremacy Clause of the Constitution makes this very clear. With that being said, it is the role of the AG to resolve conflicts between state and federal law and from that perspective, they are also correct. At some point, it becomes a matter of what laws people choose to enforce, have the resources to enforce, or want to enforce or not for political reasons. This is kind of like the difference in federal classification of cannabis versus state classification of cannabis. If it is still illegal federally then in theory the feds can force the states to shut down cannabis shops and deport people. Just for clarity, the ancestors of the people being deported lived here long before the United States was created and have a right to be here and states have a right to determine the best path forward on cannabis. Just my personal opinion, but of course, even a state AG can have their opinion and there is always going to be a limit to their power. The Trump admin, Supreme Court, and Congress all on the other side of an issue makes it difficult to win. At the end of the day the truth is that there are not really any laws, the courts exist to determine things in favor of who has the most money, and money has bought everyone at all levels for a long time. It’s only what those in power choose to enforce, or how they choose to resolve contradictory state and federal laws, or how they are paid to decide how to resolve it, and so no laws really exist, it’s just up to whoever is in power at that point in time.

  • Certain addresses get flagged in bank and verification systems over time that are shared addresses among many people. Places where someone can get mail without a permanent legal address is one example. Shelters, general delivery at the post office, etc. So much of the concept of your identity is tied to your legal address. Courts can use this too and claim they can’t find someone then issue default judgements against them. Meanwhile, so many places are heavily monitored because they have turned into police states, it is not usually in question for the goverment who someone is and where they are located. The post office should provide long term PO boxes for unhoused people for free and these should be accepted as legal addresses. But often, you’ll find a PO Box isnt accepted.

  • With parts of the left starting to doubt the 2024 election, you would think winning in 2024 would mean that the current administration has an incentive in upholding the integrity of all the past elections. After all, it’s not like the voting systems were all good for 2016, not for 2020 and then all good again magically in 2024. Either they are all bullshit or they are not.

I mean most of the election bullshit happens before the primaries even start with the gerrymandering and the forced choices in candidates, often being chosen by the business community (money) or smoked filled room party politics.

  • The fact is that conventional bombs can’t eliminate all the underground and mountainous facilities. This requires either a large ground invasion and occupation, at a very high cost, or nuclear weapons.

A ground invasion can’t happen for a number of reasons and Israel and the U.S. can’t allow Iran to continue having a nuclear program means that they will see no other choice but to use tactical nukes.

  • The article fails to explain how the UPS was connected to the server, or if they were at all. Most use USB and there is no indication that even if some elaborate thing to connect to a battery backup over starlink was used, you still have to break out of the HID in Windows, gain kernel level access, then modify machines, some of which are airgapped, and the databases in a way that not only hides external reporting as they alleged with Palantir, but also removes any records of the database transactions being modified. Maybe you could have a USBHID zero day that lets the battery backup escape mitigations built in like Data Execution Prevention in Windows, then you have a second zero day that lets you modify SQLite where the tabulations were kept, and somehow all of this was coordinated remotely. Who knows, maybe the battery backups have a network connection on them meant to prevent electrical surges, and can operate as a man in the middle for any network traffic passing to the internet or other local servers. Even better, they were able to connect to a Tripp Lite device over StarLink, which acted as a man in the middle attack while protecting the network connection from a power surge, and then this was used to interface with the Intel Management Engine or another BIOS level attack, and they got in that way.

So many options, and people can speculate all day. Proof is necessary and the voting machines and Tripp Lite devices are all still available to be audited. It’s important to remember that there are powerful forces inside the U.S. and other countries that want to move people away from Democracy and voting. The best way to do this is to have a repeat of the election denial from the right to now be on the left. If that becomes standard behavior then it’s game over for Democracy in the U.S.

  • You’re going to have a phase where very important software systems are going to be designed and maintained by people who are not developers in the traditional sense. LLMs give the MBA class an excuse to do cost cutting, which you’re seeing across the board. This means either them or more junior developers will be brought in as glorified prompt engineers. The code they end up creating will be based on all the problems of the LLMs. Hallucinations, etc. After the dotcom boom and the move to digitize everything, the value of a company ended up becoming the software and data it produces. This gave the nerds a great employment leverage over the MBA class, because it’s not like they were going to solve all the problems and digitize all the value. Now this trend is reversing, and the value of many non-software companies is actually in the software they produced over the past two decades. During this time, large amounts of jobs were lost after moving on premise hosting to the cloud. Now these same handful of tech companies who already own the infrastructure of an increasing number of companies, is also producing LLM agents that are meant to replace the brains and value behind their software. So if a group of AI companies like OpenAI, Microsoft, Amazon, Google, etc all start owning both the infrastructure, data and the brains to create and maintain the software, who really begins to own all of these companies over time?

At any rate, the failure potential of these changes are high and itself will hopefully create a lot of jobs by knowledgeable people who come in to fix the mistakes…

  • The ICE raids are meant to cause the response we are seeing, and eventually an even more powerful response. The White House has already been throwing around the word insurrection, which implies the insurrection act. If the natural escalation that they expect takes place, it could create the conditions where the insurrection act can be invoked. Since the Federal level is under control of the Trump Administration, that leaves the National Guard, state police, county sheriffs, and local police departments. The only one of these capable of standing up to the Feds would be the National Guard. If things turn ugly over the next few weeks during continued raids in places like L.A., it could force the Governor to deploy the national guard given the numbers of people involved. Some of these communities are well armed and they are already fighting back. If the goal is to cause the conditions to invoke the insurrection act, it would take away the ablity of the California Governor to direct his national guard. They can be forced to follow the orders of the President, which is one of the reasons for using the Insurrection Act in the first place.

In a place like L.A., this leaves just the LAPD and Sherrifs department and they do not have the power to stop both the Feds and a national guard under White House control. L.A. seems to be heavily targeted by the Trump administration in many different ways. They are looking at bribery and corruption in many areas like LA Homeless Agency. The ICE raids targeted the Fashion District are meant as an economic attack, as many of those people worked in shops and factories. Other ICE raids targeted companies involved in agriculture. The Trump admin is also looking at other Federal funding to take away from California.

All of this combined could mean that the state Government, state and local police cannot protect these communities from what is being sent after them, partially as an overall form of economic warfare against California generally. You have the wildfire funds, the tariffs attacking the shipping areas of coastal California, and it’s obvious that it is a well planned operation. Behind this too is a hostile DOJ and FBI, not to mention DHS, ICE, and everyone else. They are being hunted.

The State Government can’t protect anyone either, they have been totally outmanuvered at every stage, because they are just coasting until 2026. The one advantage people have is their numbers. Peaceful protest is the way forward, it just takes a lot more people knowing about the raids and being present to protest them. If the Trump admin wants a Kent state or Tiananmen Square type situation on their hands, that will be on them…

  • Many states never agreed with LGBT people having employment at all. Much of the history involves homelessness as a result of not being able to have sustained work because in many states, society would label and sabotage the ability for LGBT or people believed to be LGBT to have employment which is necessary to maintain housing. It was very much a sustained, methodical, approach that was taken. This is true going back to the Lavendar Scare in the Federal Govt, where like rooting out communists during the McCarthy era, they made sure to take all the Govt jobs away from anyone believed to be gay. Discrimination at work is a key means of taking away the right for someone to work.

Now they have many new weapons to enforce this end result in the lives of people living in the states that want to bring this back.
