I usually just check out another copy in another directory, say I am working on Foo. foo/ is the dev playground and clean-foo/ for a clean checkout from master.

I know you can do it all with commands but I just find it easier to diff between directories or check how things are in master without touching the dev dir.

Forking against the license wouldn’t solve the problem of not being included in distributions though. No sane distribution would include the fork.

If it is made in godot or unity (unsure about unreal an others), it would be quite impressive to make it unable to compile on linux. It should be as easy as just chosing another release target.

It doesn’t really matter how you measure it, number of flights, duration, distance traveled, etc… No matter which, air travel is by far the safest option. The only other that comes anywhere near is trains. Going by car is bad (though motorcycle is even worse), but so many are afraid of flying that they instead takes the car. Which is among the worst things you could do from a safety point of view.

Look at fear of flying for an example, all statistics say you are many many many times over more likely to get into a car accident on your way to the airport, than during the flight. Even when the ride to the airport is usually short and the flight very long. Yet people are afraid of flying, but not going by car. By percentage, there are of course those, rightly so, afraid of cars as well.

Eh, you could make your own kernel module and require it being enabled for Linux as well. It would be a major undertaking though, and since the linux share is very small still it just isn’t worth it.

For very basic things maybe, but it has a lot of other weird problems and restrictions. Mutability, no real timezone support, very limited arithmetic, to name a few. As soon as you move beyond the very basic, you want someting more robust.

There is a reason almost everyone use some Date lib, like Luxon and not the built in. And well, having a horrible built in lib that they can’t change due to legacy code breaking is nothing really new or unique to JS.
