I have some photography homies that mainly use digital but have some old canon SLRs for the novelty. I’m a fairly technical person so I asked them about how film works. In the hour or so we talked about the chemical reactions and iso numbers, it was clear that there are only a handful of companies that can produce film stock. Developing it(as in turn it into a picture) can be done by almost anyone, there are thousands of commercial developers in the States, but maybe six manufacturers of stock.

I was the HBIC of Dave & Buster’s arcade for a few years. The big halo shooter game was bugging out with some auto updates from a USB drive. So I just called the people directly and asked them for a command line.

I used a small wireless keyboard the size of an old 360 controller keyboard. So it took me maybe a minute to type the whole thing after getting Internet access to the fucking thing(a project in itself). When I hit enter a crowd started forming with oohhhhs and awwws. I’m a hardware person, I can multimeter stuff and solder replacement components (which is apparently magic to the store manager cause we stopped buying whole replacement boards). But know absolutely dick all about programming other than an intro to SQL class in college that I’m sure I’ve forgotten most of by know. And there was more than one “to dawg he’s hacking like the movies!”

I’m sure some thought I was programming but there was at least two dumb fucks that thought I was hacking. Like what am I going to hack from an arcade shooting game‽

I would replace “companies” with “non-profits”. Cause it’s pretty clear that companies do hold that kind of power. Let me broadly gesture to the companies paying off these hack politicians to pass these laws i.e.; apple, alphabet, meta, and so on.

This is it. I grew out of reddit too. And it’s funny cause when I started using it was around 2012-ish, and everyone was around their 20s/30s with the occasional edgy teen # chan refugee. Yeah we told a lot of the same dumb jokes still circulating now (cause it’s more than half bots now), but now every single thread is literally ALL the same exact jokes I saw a decade plus ago, again and again, day after day.

At least this lemme gives a joke a few days to rest before trying to milk that old skinny cow again.
