I guess you’ll need to go back at least 40 years. Even so, if the belt or motor breaks then the washing machine doesn’t work either.
That could happen to the washing machine whether it’s “smart” or not.
You’ll need a broadcasting licence for that, mate.
Lemmy.zip blocks uk users on its front end but I think its contents is still federated.
All zero tourists must be furious.
Honestly I have no idea. I guess they could just block it if they don’t comply?
Under the new UK law, lemmynsfw would also need to have some kind of age verification for UK users.
I thought this question was going to be about whether they opened outside or inside.
But Putin won’t because he’s too far into a delusion that was first one of grandeur but has become one of sunk cost.
I’ve read because they’re on a war economy, stopping the war would be catastrophic for Russia’s economy, and probably to Putin himself. But also continuing the war is also doing serious damage. That’s why Putin will never agree to any ceasefire.
Sergio Perez is to be announced as a Cadillac driver days after the Hungarian GP!
Aren’t they literally announcing it right now?
I think “buzz” is used a lot to people near Manchester too.
People from Bolton (UK) get very defensive about the exact pronunciation of Bolton too. I heard this conversation several times between two colleagues:
Colleague 1 (c1): "... that's because you're from Bolton"
Colleague 2 (c2): "It's not Bolton, it's Bolton"
C1: "What? That's what I said, Bolton"
C2: "No, you said Bolton, it's Bolton"
C1: "You're saying the same thing, Bolton"
C2: "No, Bolton"
C1: "That's what I'm saying!"
Me: "what. the. FUCK"
If you’ve ever seen Brooklyn Nine Nine and Jake would say “Nikolaj” and then Charles would correct him saying the exact same thing, it was exactly like that, but saying “Bolton” instead.
Also I heard several people from Wigan say “A packet of crisp” and not “A packet or crisps”.
Also forgot about this one: I used to live in South Wales, and people would say “Premark” instead of “Primark”. They’d think I was the weird one for saying it like Primark.
My wife has an Apple watch and has to charge it every day. It would drive me absolutely nuts. There’s been times where it’s run out mid-workout or during a long walk. Meanwhile my Garmin Forerunner can go 2 weeks on a single charge.
How are PeerTube instances funded? I’d imagine that the cost of running an instance is significantly higher than a Lemmy instance.
True, but in order to make it a healthy viable alternative to centralised platforms then there needs to be a financial incentive for creators to use peertube. I guess any creators who give a shit about this kind of thing could upload their content to both platforms, but doing so could have an impact on their YouTube earnings.
Early youtube was beautiful precisely because it was normal people making videos as a hobby, not trying to earn money.
It was also a novelty as it as very new, but the quality of content being put out now is significantly higher than it was in 2005.
I’m going to start looking for a new phone soon to replace my OnePlus 6T, and the 13 looks so good, except for the fact it’s absurdly huge. I wish the 13T was released globally!
I think the only other option is the pixel 9, but not sure about battery life and slower charging.
Is this the Finnish equivalent to a cockerel crowing in the morning?
As a parent of two young kids, there’s definitely times where getting kidnapped sounds good.
What is it about Java where companies are hesitate to upgrade? Do the Java releases always bring breaking changes or are the companies that use Java have a culture of not prioritising tech upgrades?
This isn’t true at all, combustion engines have improved by huge amounts in terms of efficiency and reliability in that time.
