I agree with you completely, and that way you actually learn what the formula does and its limitations, so you can comfortably use it again next time. Instead of simply relying on the AI to figure it out again.

decended_being@midwest.socialto Technology@lemmy.world•Google search boss says AI isn’t killing search clicksEnglish7·7 days agoThere are really two options, either
- Clicks on results have decreased because AI summaries are so good. Or
- AI summaries aren’t giving the answers people want so they’re clicking on results.
It’s good for Google to show that clicks are happening because that’s part of how they make their money, their clients need the clicks to survive. It’s good for Google to show that AI summaries are being used because it’s a product they’ve poured a lot of money into, that’s being sold to shareholders as a superintelligence.
Bubble is going to burst.

Great show, I started on a whim thinking I wouldn’t like it because I couldn’t get into the book awhile ago. The show is significantly better, I think.

125,000 Canadians move to the US each year for a better life - our best people! My neighbour moved to Texas in December and wished she’d made the move a long time ago. There’s bigger everything - larger homes, larger pay, better disposable incomes, more vibrancy, better weather and better people
decended_being@midwest.socialto Curated Tumblr@sh.itjust.works•social cue fails (MANY more images in post)English12·1 month agoDog hotel could either refer to a doggy daycare place or a hotel that allows pets, I’m assuming the former based on what they said.
Yeah, I mean a potential path could be a narrowing of how a “well regulated Militia” is defined. But I agree, it’s a fully lost cause.
What’s the point of an organized society and a government anyway? Not to care for each other and reduce harm, right? /s
USA citizen here (unfortunately)
Guns are designed to kill, or at least cause harm.
I don’t think we should kill, or even cause the kind of harm that guns inflict.
∴ Guns shouldn’t exist.
I recognize this is a super idealistic approach, but this is just a “general concept of how a society should run.”
Yes, I’m taking into account hunting. We shouldn’t be killing non-human animals either. Sports is a more difficult problem to tackle for me, I recognize others like shooting for sporting events, and it’s not causing harm inherently. Might even be safer than American football, lol.
Having said that, a more realistic approach would be a gun buy back program and a slow phase out of guns for our police or at least a reduction / demilitarization of our police. I have no hope that this will happen, but wow, it’d be nice.
Just got a job that is fully remote, and I think I need to start doing this a few times a month. I could do a half day at a local happy hour or something. It’s oppressively lonely as is.

Obviously movement for the sake of movement is not inherently good. But when our only allowed form of action is to vote and we see that voting has no or negative effect, it seems fruitless.
Because a slightly more realistic scenario is that the Dems vote to just throw some people off the cliff, and that’s agreed between the two parties.
decended_being@midwest.socialtoPolitical Memes@lemmy.world•To those in countries where democracy might last another election - **harm reduction is not optional**184·1 month agoNo, I’d rather vote for vegan ice cream first, then vote against driving off a cliff.
Unfortunately our current system doesn’t allow for that, so obviously I vote against driving off a cliff, but it feels so stagnating.
Agreed, but this is like comparing your neighbor burning 1 million acres to you having a bonfire. The scale is the problem. We should absolutely take individual responsibility; however, our small impact is only felt when we band together.
I counted the boxes and compared to the number of digits.
Yep, we had a “targeted political attack” in Brooklyn Center (a 2nd ring suburb of Minneapolis) about 2 hours before the protests were set to start.
