Apart for being impressed at how much practice that must have taken you, really: stop defecating on the world with your words, shitheels.

jaemo@sh.itjust.worksto Canada@lemmy.ca•Canadians with an X gender marker will now have to select male or female on Nexus travel cards after Trump order1·6 days agoI’m not terribly sure how much that is going to matter given the current disposition of most of us towards American bullshittery, and by that I mean to say that bureaucratic cowardice might play into their hands, but the people of Canada aren’t going to.
I also still have enough faith in our version of the democratic process to believe that if the current government’s posture was (or becomes) wholly incongruent with that of the body politic, we’d rearrange it next election. The fact is that Carney’s professed positions, at the time of the election at least, were aligned with ours moreso than the angry guy who lost his seat. I’m certainly less than impressed with what’s taken place since, but don’t know what I should have expected. This season’s script has been all over the place and the writing is awful.
Reflecting on this all, maybe the takeaway is that subconsciously, who I expected better from was the Americans, and that ought to be a lesson and a loud wake up call to us all.

Yeah sure man. We’ll have to take that on faith I suppose. After all, none of use were likely alive during past incidents when Americans utterly failed to do the right thing until it was absolutely necessary and directly threatened them. It’s a source of constant solace to the rest of the world, which is, of course, why we’re selling off your treasury bonds.

The best is when you are lying in bed at night and some odd mix of neurotransmitters unlocks a memory you haven’t thought of in years, and then you spend an hour crying about the gulf of time between then and now, for what/who you’ve lost, and managing the crushing guilt that follows when you feel awful about not tending to the garden of your memories better.
