Even with an DE installed, Linux doesn’t force you to use it. Pressing Ctrl+alt and any of the F-keys is usually configured to switching between sessions. So even if the DE gets stuck and gets fully unresponsive, you can still switch to a different session and access your system through a terminal. Using that terminal you could also install a different DE (or window compositor)

I mean, technically they’re called cron jobs, although the name cron does come from the Greek word chronos.

Functionally, it was put back the way it was found. That person is not being paid enough to give a shit about aesthetics. So doing that IMO absolutely is going above and beyond.
depends on how exhausted I am already on that day, but honestly probably not. I try not to go above and beyond for my employer without some kind of agreed upon compensation but stuff like this I’d do right just for my own satisfaction

I fully agree with your take regarding art but for different reasons apparently. I do think your way of approaching this makes you a good person. Specifically because you are willing to consume the art of a ‘bad’ person just because of the chance they make something good. It shows you’re trying to build an inclusive community, even if you disagree with someone. So it makes me wonder, why do you think being a good person ‘pertains to’ (forces?) consumption?
Again, I agree that there is no good consumption (in the capitalist sense). But I can absolutely see good deeds one can do without even getting close to consuming resources. An example would be holding the door open for the person behind you. Or am I misunderstanding you somehow?
