Oh, I was just remarking that I don’t have anything but
env
installed in there. I wouldn’t be able to runsl
by its full path unless I go searching for wherever that is
The even more fucked-up part is that
Invoke-WebRequest
still uses Internet Explorer to parse the result, and will panic if-UseBasicParsing
is not passed every time, or IE isn’t installed and initialized. That is absolutely horrifying.
Others—such as myself—have a tendency to also use em dashes. I haven’t been called AI yet either, but I, too, curse like a sailor.
Powershell does the opposite, having an alias from
ls
to whatever the powershell equivalent ofdir
is.
There’s also
/usr/bin/sl
but you knew that.$ ls /usr/bin env
I guess I could
env sl
?
pivot_root@lemmy.worldto Tech@programming.dev•Linus Torvalds calls RISC-V code from Google engineer 'garbage' and that it 'makes the world actively a worse place to live' — Linux honcho puts dev on notice for late submissions, too1·2 days agoIf you want to look in the operating system space, Linux holds the highest share of operating systems that aren’t Windows or MacOS. And that share is maybe 3% if you isolate it to just PC gamers, and much lower when you include general computer usage.
Could one of the BSD variants have ended up in the same position? Maybe, but probably not. Linux is basically a unicorn where circumstances lined up perfectly for it to become as big as it is today.
As much as it sucks to admit, the Linux kernel would not be where it is today without the additional expertise and man-hours donated by companies. That never would have happened if it weren’t open-source, collaborative, and free for commercial use. It also happened to exist in a situation where the cost-benefit analysis meant it was more worthwhile to hire people to improve the Linux kernel, than it would have been to create a kernel in-house or license one from a vendor.

I suspect this would just make him more popular.
Remember: he appeals to the regressive, degenerate shitheels that idolize the days when women were treated as men’s property rather than as individuals with their own equal rights.

pivot_root@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•Republicans Issue Subpoena for Epstein Files—With One Big Exception4·7 days agoIf you do happen to see “Donald Trump” on the list in the future, it’s definitely an error.
For the first name, that “D” is actually a “B”. And the “o” is supposed to be an “a”, but the top part got cut off. The next “n” is actually just two "rr"s printed too close together. The “a” following it is correct, though. That last “ld” is actually a letter-swapped and smudged “ck”.
In the last name, the paper was knocked while printing the “T”—it’s actually an “Ob”. The “u” was cut off half way through printing; it’s an “a”. And the last “p” was just leftover toner on the paper that got mixed in with the “a”.
(For those who don’t want to suffer trying to comprehend that, the joke is: it was supposed to say “Barrack Obama”, typo and all)

That would be unbelievably stupid, and yet here we are…
It’s almost like Trump asked for a list of the most influential quotes in writings about authoritarianism, then took them all literally and did a half-ass job applying them.

It was, surprisingly, only two years outdated by the time the Switch was released.
Selling it for more than the initial MSRP a decade later is simply, ass-backwards insane, though.
