We don’t pay government to provide services, we pay government to support political functionaries and their appointed staff in their role as thieves of our taxes.
Small government for ®'s is no spending on services. Small government for (D)'s is no limits on spending for things we all agree we need (with all of the overhead of the R’s).
I guess I would rather have the one where I get some basic level of service from my government but I can’t claim to like it.
rouxdoo@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the most unexpectedly useful item you've ever bought under $20?23·1 month agoA package of blue-tack - it is basically sticky play-dough that is completely opaque and you can use wads of it to blunt the pain of stupid LEDs on on your tech shit. I am currently sitting in my living room looking at my TV and various components including router and stuff…easily 20 gobs of blue-tack masking 20 blinking LEDs.

Stratosphere - blow all the CO2 out into space and fix global warming.
Schwarma after with friends.
Oh yeah, grab the great plastic pollution bomb in the pacific and hurl it into the sun then use fry-eyes to burn every plastic manufacturer on the planet.

rouxdoo@lemmy.worldto Electric Vehicles@slrpnk.net•Another way electric cars clean the air: study says brake dust reduced by 83%233·3 months agoI call total bullshit on this. I drive a (work-provided) Prius every day. This thing has some serious get-up-and-go…meaning as I drive it every day I simply smoke those (front) tires. I leave most “performance cars” (ICE) behind at the light. That means that I am tossing micro-plastics out at a greater rate than most cars. I burn though tires every 15,000 miles.
When I get a red light (remember, I don’t own it, it’s a work car) I slam brakes until I can punch it again once it’s clear. The regen-brake thing never applies given how I drive. The Prius is not inherently greener, it’s just more fun than the ICE alternative I had before.
I do burn through a lot less gas so I guess 30-50 MPG is worth something.
I love my green alternative vehicle!
So totally true. I’m glad to see my intended comment so well phrased. My son was full of personality from the moment his eyes opened (and I melted).
As for funeral - myself, I don’t see the point of one for anyone. They don’t care. If the people left behind feel the need to do something they can but I don’t see the point of it.
I’m prepared for flames but I’m a light/sweet guy - always have been except with espresso. I control how much I use by employing heavy cream to just cover the bottom of my cup. One pump of simple syrup to that then filler 'er up from my French press. I gather that will not be your cup of tea but that’s how I like it.
rouxdoo@lemmy.worldto Uplifting News@lemmy.world•Bill Gates vows to give away 99 per cent of his fortune by 2045English317·3 months agoI wouldn’t for a second think or hope that he endures the distress of poverty or feeling needy given where he started - he has tried to do good with his fortune and that is good enough for me…he is doing what he can for the world around him and should be comfortable as he does so. I hope to find my own (much less extravagant) comfort some day.
Best calm-down music in the world. Love listening and playing them.
rouxdoo@lemmy.worldto United States | News & Politics@lemmy.ml•Thousands of veterans face foreclosure after Trump's VA ends key mortgage program8·3 months agoTrump has always been a land-owner, he has always relished the thrill of kicking the poors out in favor of maximizing rent profits. The fact that this hits veterans hard is a BONUS to him - they were stupid and weak for choosing the “publicly funded military boondoggle special program” that is a “drain on our budget” and we need to “cut the fat” that is weighing us down. (you saw the tiny hands making gestures as he said that).
Best answer to the question here. Neither either of either is right (or wrong).
rouxdoo@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is there any hope of finding a relationship if certain body parts don't work anymore? You know the ones.106·4 months agoIf you’re in your 20’s experiencing this you should, frankly, check in to an ER. Old guys like me have some similar issues but not as bad as you are describing. Get some help, son.
Agree. I have updated my Ubiquity router twice in the last month. I’ve updated HA … a STUPID number of times in that span. Whoever wrote that is a dunce.
You seem cool, wanna PM to see if we can be friends /s
Thanks for the heads up. Must have taken a minute to federate the change, I can see it now. Appreciate your civil response versus…, you know.
rouxdoo@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How do I make Lemmy feel less dead?24·4 months agoI’ve found that if you want engagement then most communities are fairly quiet. This is not /r so there are fewer around. If you want to engage then find a post that resonates with you and engage with it. Lemmings are conversational but you need to poke them to get something back.
Stupid paywall that 12ft.io couldn’t break but, honestly, I’m grateful because the article probably had direct quotes from MTG which would have obviously been upsetting so I’m glad I missed it. Thanks, OP, for making the content unavailable!
rouxdoo@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•How likely is it that Trump will be the first President assassinated since Kennedy?6·4 months agoMy bingo card/wish list - Trump gets tied up in litigation/impeachment (first pres to be impeached 3 or 4 times…bring it!) until he is out of office (I suspect his Outlook is already set that way). Then, after, nobody says his name ever again because…let’s face it, everyone is just plain embarrassed that it happened - ®'s (D)'s, even whack-a-doo (Others … independent, green, what are those guys that think that everything is transactional…forget).

Ugh…imagining it’s majesty by extrapolation makes me sad at what I see that is no longer there. That makes me sad.
Thanks for listening!!
