…Dickweed.
Canadians are not a people you want to piss off. There’s a reason they had their own beach at Normandy, they had earned a reputation for savagery during both World Wars, and their special forces operators are some of the finest in the world.
Imagine having the Taliban as your neighbors. Canadian insurgents would be able to regularly hit targets in the United States, and I have zero doubt they would quickly become a force to be reckoned with.
I have been in fucking EVE Online corporations with better OPSEC than these guys.
This would be hilarious if I didn’t fucking live here.
Nah, they don’t give a shit if it’s gone, because they’ll just pay an army of lawyers to make it go away.
What this does is makes any competition against any established Internet companies impossible for anyone who can’t afford said army of lawyers. That’s why they’re the main driving force behind it. Any new social media startup will swiftly find themselves buried in litigation over the content people post on their site.
It’s far worse than you think.
I own guns. I love my guns. But I’m not weird about it, I’m all about responsible gun ownership, I don’t have an entire armory, and I ESPECIALLY don’t open carry.
Ammosexuals give the rest of gun enthusiasts a very bad name.
Trudeau got in front of the cameras today and spelled this out. Our government chose to take this action, and Canada is having an entirely reasonable response. Once the tarrifs end, we can go back to where we were, but in the meantime, Americans need to learn how much they rely on Canadian trade and need to understand that this is entirely our government’s fault.
Here’s the thing: resistance movements don’t happen overnight except in the most extreme of circumstances, and since our transfer of power was (technically) peaceful, people aren’t feeling the kind of hurt that would drive them to protest just yet.
So, people who are wise enough to see what’s coming have to start small. Start with a small protest, then work your way up. Boycotts like this one are good for getting people to do something to start off. It might not do a whole lot at first, but they’ll start to add up as more and more people become aware of the movement.
Eventually, more drastic action can be taken, but getting people together and proving that they have the numbers to make a difference is vital, and unless a catastrophe happens, that process takes time.
I’m actually kinda shocked he’s still around. I was a young teenager when I was watching Ray’s stuff.
Me: This is America.

My VPN: This is Germany.
True, but it’s not something you should completely shy away from, either.
“Speak softly and carry a big stick” isn’t just advice for international diplomacy.
When the sorry’s end, the war crimes begin.
When the “Sorry!” ends, the war crimes begin.
Lonely is right.
The amount of respect that I’ve lost for my family over the past decade is immeasurable. They taught me right from wrong, and now they’re surprised that I think differently from them. My brother is the only one I’m still close with; everyone else I’ve been keeping at increasingly large distances. I used to call Mom almost every day, and now I’m lucky if I call her once a week.
This vexes me.
Man, Smedley Butler underwent a hell of an arc. From being a proud soldier of American imperialism, to becoming the father of modern police forces, to foiling a fascist plot to overthrow the country and becoming an outspoken anti-war advocate. He went from one end of the political spectrum to the other.
Aaaaaaaaand you didn’t just take the option to sabotage them from the inside?
There’s plenty of options for that, you know.
Politics have become a team sport. All discourse has become a team sport. It’s binary.
I’ve started to notice that this particular brain rot is becoming more and more common among Democrats as well. To a distressing number of people I’ve encountered on the Internet, be it here, Reddit, or elsewhere, Democrats ran a perfect political campaign and their candidates and policy were flawless and above question, so it’s entirely the fault of the voters that we got Trump again. Never mind that Democrats actively facilitated a genocide and largely ignored their base in favor of appealing to moderate Republicans who were never going to vote for them anyway.
The number of people in this country who are just incapable of seeing (much less understanding) any kind of nuance is dropping rapidly, even among demographics who should be aware of this trend.
It’s definitely nostalgic for me, since one set of grandparents smoked when I was a kid. It never really bothered me…unless I was driving in their car, where it would give me motion sickness. I was never prone to it otherwise; only when driving on mountain roads in a car that reeked of cigarettes.
To their credit, they quit smoking when my older sister had her first kid, but the smell of cigarettes just throws me back to the summers spent helping Grandpa with whatever home improvement project he was working on.
Same energy as this Key and Peele bit.
I tried, but voting Democrat in Arkansas is just pissing in the wind.
We’re getting what we deserve, and reaping what we’ve sown. Don’t pity us.
