It rhymes with the ‘me’ so it seems like it doesn’t need to rhyme with the Z
southernbrewer@lemmy.worldto Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•Peanut butter with strawberry jelly is better than peanut butter with grape jellyEnglish1·1 个月前Yeah I’m vaguely aware that jelly exists. Not sure if I’ve ever had it though, I think I’ve seen it on a shelf once or twice but it’s definitely pretty uncommon here. It might be mostly a US thing
Round here ‘jelly’ refers to a wobbly hydrated crystal that kids eat with icecream at parties
southernbrewer@lemmy.worldto Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•Peanut butter with strawberry jelly is better than peanut butter with grape jellyEnglish4·1 个月前No one’s mentioned blackcurrant jam? The absolute best kind of jam for all purposes including PBJ
Never heard of grape jam or ‘jelly’ though. Strawberry or raspberry jam seems to be the most common round here in NZ, and it’s all okay but has nothing on blackcurrant
What game is this?

Yeah, my best friend lives just around the corner and we have this kind of friendship. We work together and both work from home, so we often work from each other’s houses.
We both have wives and kids but our families are close enough that we often just turn up at each other’s houses without asking or organising anything. We eat dinner together about half the time.
But we pretty much never have breakfast together - mornings are far too busy for that.
Github has an option to show private commits in these graphs though

“A pie” is a meat pie around here

The difference is the order: long black has water on the bottom, espresso on top. Canadiano is the opposite.
Long black’s better because it preserves the crema better (it doesn’t get murdered by pouring the water on top)

Now that you mention the cost angle I think I’ve heard of some schools providing free … breakfast? For kids who show up hungry. But this was specifically a social aid program and not something that was designed/funded to be used by a majority of students.
southernbrewer@lemmy.worldto United States | News & Politics@lemmy.ml•Chinese Students Repulsed by American School LunchesEnglish21·7 个月前The whole concept sounds so fake to me. You mean you don’t just make and take your own lunch? Why not? Do you have to pay for the lunch or is it includes in your fees?
I always just took some PBJ sandwiches, a yoghurt, a muesli bar, a piece of fruit, maybe a cookie or a chocolate or some seaweed. It’s not exactly time consuming to throw that together in the morning, takes maybe 5 minutes or less

southernbrewer@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Has anyone regretted buying a fully electric car?English9·10 个月前We have a Nissan Leaf (30kWh) which has been great. No regrets.
The things you worry about before buying (range, battery life) are absolute non-issues. For optimal battery longevity you don’t want to use a fast charger very often, so just charge it at home which is generally more convenient anyway. You can make exceptions occasionally when you need to.
We use it for city driving, for which the range is more than adequate and we mostly only charge it every few days. We haven’t yet attempted to take it on a proper road trip; so far we just borrow a friend’s hybrid if we need to do that, basically to avoid having to think about charging.

Yeah sounds awesome to me too tbh. My mood brightens whenever I see snow and I don’t find that low sunlight levels affect me at all.
However apparently between 1-10% of people are affected by seaonal affective disorder so those people may want to avoid Finland during the winter months
Yes! Grandfather-in-law just got one. Not just in UK — this is Commonwealth-wide.
