What a great idea, it would also preclude the cost-surprise I experience at the register.

In Cypress is everything written in 3 alphabets?
Edit: two alphabets, 3 languages?
I was struggling to remember the song and so clicked on your link. It’s a surprise to realize it’s the updated version. I was thinking for two minutes that I had a really terrible memory. Then I found the original and it’s entirely familiar.
I can almost remember and it burns to not quite have it.
Is it really? I’ve never seen such a sign in my corner of the US. Often there’s only one human operated checkout.
I hate self check out. I’m a BYO bags person and the damn thing is always yelling at me, always talking mechanically at me, too loud. I would so much rather experience small talk.

Finally had to ditch my 3a this month because Google is psychotic and it’s too old for graphene or lineage. Sucks bc the phone still works great. I’ve temporarily got an 8a running graphene, and am loving it, but will be switching to a 9a shortly for non pertinent reasons. It is such a weird feeling of relief to be on a secure OS.
I was wrong, you were wrong! We can throw rice at weddings again! I have a great picture of my mom getting married outside with rice being thrown in her face.
But why don’t they plant trees?? And I don’t mean the little weeping cherry that will top out at 15’ or those goddamned arborvitaes that cast no shade. Plant an oak, a maple, a willow, a sycamore.
Have you ever met someone who is obsessed with the supposed Mandela Effect? I’m not kidding when I say I have to listen to this monthly. I’m sure my generally sane neighbor isnt an outlier; these people are seriously obsessed.
It might be more fun for me if I were a few years older, but most of the examples are from before my time by a few years. Regardless, there’s only so many times I can hear about the Berenst**n Bears before I start a neighborhood Gofund Me to buy your books off ebay so we can all have some peace at the next block party lmao.
Lay your theories on me. I have none.
Sadly it’s more likely doom scrolling these days. Here I go to read the book I just DL’d, though! Thanks for the pep talk ;)
They are conscious beings, but still rabbits, which is what I love so much and which sticks the book in the sci-fi genre for me. It’s been a few years since I read jt, but that moment when they were crossing the river and one of the very basic rabbits couldn’t even remember the crossing not 1 minute later because it was so outside their rabbity existence… Mwah! So good!
Every time I see a rabbit in the evening I think about their siflay.

Still beautiful but a little less weighty for me because of a lack of context. Now, Grapes of Wrath? Yes, any day.

August 054·3 days agoJust finished Adrian Tchaikovsky’s “Service Model” after really enjoying “Children of Time.” Fun, as this was a rare book that I and my sweetheart read at the same time, so we had fun talking about it. Not mind blowing, but very fun and with a loveable main character.
I am really struggling to read Umberto Eco’s "Name of the Rose." If anyone can give me a pep talk I’d actually appreciate it, but the incredibly long introduction set me back. I’m starting to pick up some Holmes/Watson vibes which I am tentatively enjoying, but motivation is low…
Which is why I am here looking for a new book!
What about DS9
