After finishing the second Thursday Next book went right back to deathlands.
I’m halfway through 105 at the moment but may start the third Thursday Next book tomorrow at work.
How’s The Sunlit Man?

I had the same experience with gravel kings, I don’t think they liked being inflated.
I know, for shame!
I am enjoying the Thursday Next books so far, I like how odd they are but I’m definitely not as drawn to them as I am some other stuff where I can’t wait to get into the next book of the series. I’m not going to drop the series yet as I am still enjoying it but this week I have gone back to deathlands again after that Thursday next respite xD
Yeh that is fair enough, there is a DODI repack anyway so I’ll probably grab that. I have been considering a 360 recently what with the new exploit that has been made available so maybe I’ll grab a cheap 360 so I can relive some of my favourite games from there too.
Oh no. EA play, fuck that shit.
I’ll have to find a repack or something -_-
Oooo space opera… I love a good space opera book so that has just piqued my interest more!
I have that feeling with some other games so can relate.
I really know nothing about it other than hearing people rave about it for the longest time. I might have to look up some info at least to see if I’d like it, literally all I know is “space RPG” xD
Maybe I’ll keep an eye out for a good price then!
Maybe I should finally play this game…
As a cyclist taxi drivers are the biggest fucking cunts on the road and are by far the people that put my life at risk most often.
I will walk for hours before I ever give those entitled pieces of shit any of my money. Buses and trains ftw!
I had to look up who that was, I cannot claim that fame but could probably give an in depth description of how a lot of mainstream printing techniques are achieved xD
One slight amendment, you are right with everything except for that perfect bound, or PUR bound books aren’t folded into signatures, that isn’t true.
The sections of the book will still be folded into signatures, as you say 32pp or 16pp sections are the most common (pp being printed pages) they will then be collated down a line, so you have a feeder that feeds each individual section in the order that they should appear, once you get to the end of the feeder section all of them will be held together tightly by a clamp.
This clamp then brings this book block around against a milling blade which will then mill a couple of mm off of the entire spine section of this book block. This then essentially turns them all into individual leaves as they are no longer now joined together at the spine where they are folded. The clamp then runs around and rolls the spine up against a glue applicator wheel. This will add a layer of glue, the thickness of which can be changed by the operator, to the spine of the book block.
The block carries on in the machine to the cover feeder. Here the cover feeder will feed a single cover at a time through two creasing wheels that will crease the cover where it needs to be folded. This again will be adjusted depending on the thickness of the book, straight after that it will add a line of side glue to either side of the scores that will, surprise surprise glue the cover to the sides of the book block. The cover then moves down between fingers that guide the front and back cover in the direction they need to be folded before the book block comes up to meet the cover.
As the two meet there will be a plate that adds some pressure to aid the bonding before the clamp releases. The clamp will return around the machine to collect another book block.
The book is then dropped down onto a long conveyor belt that travels the length of the machine (the one I’m used to was around 50m long) and back to give the glue so time to cure before dropping into a three knife trimmer to trim the head foot and for edge. This will trim the book in singles or multiples at a time depending on the book thickness.
Then they run into a stacker to be stacked ready to be ejected.
Source I working in industrial print and have run PUR binders and folders.
Sorry this was a long reply just to say perfect bound stuff is still folded into sigs before being bound :)
Obligatory fuck epic but I have this game on steam and it is pretty funny for a few hours. It didn’t keep my attention for as long as road rash did back in the day but definitely worth a play if you liked those old games!
I am so torn in my opinion of these hire bike schemes that seem so popular now.
On one hand it is great that they are so readily available to encourage people to get out there and not use their car to get around, especially for people that don’t have room to store a bike.
On the other hand they are dumped absolutely everywhere, as this article mentions and a good 50%+ that I see being used are being ridden like cunts. People endangering themselves by ignoring road rules and others by riding on pavements.
I’m torn xD
I remember learning about how to write clear, easy to follow manuals in IT classes when I was 13 in the late 90s. What ever happened to that skill, did it die along with physical manuals?
Terrible documentation that is written assuming far too much prior knowledge.
I’m pretty technologically literate but just don’t have a lot of experience with Linux, in the last year of trying properly to switch over the most frustrating part is trying to fix problems or follow peoples “guides” to various things. There is plenty of information out there for sure but when I have to keep looking up a string of things to try and get to my desired end result then the original documentation I’m trying to follow is not adequate.
I can only imagine what it might be like for users who are less inclined to learn about this stuff and just want to use it / solve a problem.
I think that a lot can be said for well written documentation that describes necessary processes to get a desired result in a way that everyone can follow regardless of their prior experience or knowledge.
Ōkunoshima or rabbit island. It is an island that is literally full of rabbits, everywhere you turn a cute fucking rabbit is lurking. It was awesome!
They got it so right the first time then it was just downhill from there.
I agree! Although I did have to scale back my spending at one point because I was spending far too much every month on wild birds that weren’t even really my “pets”.
I think I have a good balance now :D
I think I have it somewhere but have no got around to it yet. I’ll see if I can find it (the sunlit man) tomorrow and try and get around to listening at the end of this week.
