My number one issue with all sights is that there is not enough parking. Big Ben? Where do I park? Pyramids? Parking. Statue of liberty? Come in parking! The first and usually only thing I think about is parking. If I can’t park my car and walk less than 100m to the thing I want to see, what’s the point?

/s because some people still won’t see the sarcasm of this or the post. A lot of people do think that way

I’m gonna circle the walmart parking lot for 15 minutes looking for the closest spot to park to save 30 seconds of walking.

like a decade ago my local walmart started closing one set of doors at ~10pm, and TO THIS DAY there is ALWAYS parking available in front of those doors. it doesn’t matter if you show up at noon, fuckers still avoid that entrance like they’re about to spend 10 hours in walmart. i’ll never understand the human mind.

Stories from the USA. My mom said that when she was a little girl my grandparents used to take the kids on road trips and they would do this thing where when they got to the destination they wouldn’t leave the car. Like, they would drive hours to see the monument (or whatever) and when they got there they would roll down the windows, slowly pass by the object going, “wow! Look there it is!”, then they would roll up the window and drive away. This happened multiple times.

It’s a fucking mystery to us. Didn’t want to pay for a ticket? Savage, unmedicated ADHD? Just fucking with your children? All are totally plausible. She didn’t realize it was weird until later in life.

We had visiting guests in Seattle and they were the same way, except these were free. Want to see the troll? Sure, go slow. Gas Works? Go slow by the side. So weird.

I had another friend that we drove around the peninsula. Every stop, he was on his phone and wanted to leave after 2 minutes. We’re talking hours of driving to some of the most gorgeous places on earth and he’s 1 minute in and looking for an exit. I still can’t understand it.

My family did that stuff too! Not for every trip, but I remember us driving to South Dakota and saying “Look there are the badlands” and such and such, but never getting out. There’s Devil’s Tower! Then we drove on. We’d get out occasionally, but not regularly.

A brutal wake up call for me was finding that the shit I’d said or heard from others in sarcasm is unironically some folks’ belief. They don’t realise how much everyone around them suffers thanks to their actual belief in misogyny/misandry/fascism being necessary, climate change being a myth, surveillance being security, one’s existence being sinful, education being bad etc.

Where’s Robert Moses when you need him to build an expressway to the future parking garage on Liberty Island 😫
