Clarification: I’m not defending generative AI slop, but rather trying to spoof of people that call popular things “slop”, regardless of their nature, see the term “friendslop”. Even some AI bros use the term “slop” on non-AI work they think should be obliterated by the “democratization of the arts”, such as “Hollywood slop”.

      I’ve seen it used for any low cost/low effort product as well. One that cracked me up was seeing games that revolve around doing something with your friends (like Peak or Repo) get called ‘friend slop.’

    Slop is like shovelware. Enough people are fine with it that it keeps being made, but it also deserves to be derided and people should stop making it.
