What is that Acorn? I don’t remember the BBC having an “Acorn Bus Extension”, and it looks too narrow to be a Master…
It’s negative, yeah, but that’s not the same thing either. I can’t believe I’m having to defend the position that not changing at all in 30 years could be seen as anything less than ideal. Did I touch a nerve or something?
You’re the one that made an assumption. I said nothing about whether I thought they were happy. If you’re going to moralise at people for jumping to conclusions, you could at least base it on something they actually said.
The reason most web forum posters hate AI is because AI is ruining web forums by polluting it with inauthentic garbage. Don’t be treating it like it’s some sort of irrational bandwagon.
It’s nice seeing my parents but everything else in my hometown is depressing.
The things that have changed are depressing because they represent lost youth. But, the things that stayed the same are also depressing, because it means the same bunch of people just spent 30 years on a treadmill and got nowhere.
Violent revolutions almost always result in bad governments for exactly this reason, i.e. it’s only fringe idealists that get it together enough to lead one, and such people are usually terrible at doing actual grown-up governing.
It’s why it’s so infuriating to see right-wingers claim that basic social safety nets and tackling inequality are Communism, because it’s like, if you want Communism then pushing half the population towards that level of desperation is exactly how you end up with it.

I started doing that a while back, but quickly realized that it’s both faster and less effort to torrent those same movies than to fanny about ripping the discs…
My Spotify playlists get greyed-out sections in them with disturbing regularity. As soon as I figure out how to download them without installing software that gives me a million viruses, I’ll be deleting my account…

I don’t know if Groupon is still a thing, but at its peak there were posts online on a regular basis from wait staff who got stiffed, because customers would tip based on the balance they owed after the 90%+ discount Groupon voucher.

Yeah. I know that the “Eagle Displayed” heraldry has been on the American coat of arms since before it became associated with the Nazis, but it’s still a little sinister how they seem to be leaning into it as a motif a lot more this year.
It’s the ultimate in bulletproof dogwhistles, because literally nobody can judge you for waving an American eagle around, and yet somehow it seems disproportionately popular amongst Neo Nazis…

The only strawmanning here is you taking things way too literally. You still argued exact the thing I was talking about, i.e. that taxing them might make us lose revenue therefore we shouldn’t do it.
Also, ad hominems get you blocked, so bye bye
You know who’s to blame for Trump? Trump voters.
What we’re seeing here is multiple layers of cowardice. Too cowardly to vote for what you actually believe in, and then too cowardly to go engage with actual Trump voters, so instead you hang around here trying to bully progressives into toeing the party line of a party that doesn’t represent them.
Incidentally,
I’ve started noticing a pattern with these “don’t blame me, I voted for Kodos” posts, where they almost always finish with a stock guilt-trip phrase like this, or “I hope you’re happy” or similar, and not just on Lemmy. And I don’t mean every now and then, I mean like, I see these posts formatted the same way regularly, often in threads that are barely relevant to it. Basically, I’m pretty sure that there’s a bot farm posting these messages on behalf of someone trying to maintain the two-party system.
