I’m not so sure. Those “forces” aren’t as rational as I used to think. Things seem to be speeding up in our collective race to the bottom.

Trump is the leader the US deserves. “Allegedly civilized” is exactly right. No matter who runs our country, it’s always been an orphan-crushing machine. Trump is more of the same, but without the mask.
